the Next Level of Climbing: Ice Climbing
Winter is a very active time of year for many, especially in Montana when there are so many inside and outside activities. The cold and snow doesn’t seem to slow the adventurists down. One of the best activities to do is Ice Climbing in Hyalite Canyon. This location represents the most concentrated and natural ice climbing venue in North America. There are over 150 total routes in less than 3 square miles. In addition, there are other options such as genesis rock climbing in the lower canyon. Hyalite Canyon is home to many of the most popular climbs such as Cleopatra’s Needle, Black Magic, Mummy Cooler, and Winter Dance. This wonderful experience is only 45 minutes from downtown Bozeman and routes can range from 10 minutes to 2 hours from the parking lot. There are 211 total climbs with different surfaces and difficulties. You will be able to find the best one for you by using the route finder. Whether you are an avid climber or just wanting to gain some experience, there is an option for you.
If you are vacationing to Montana, this is one of the experiences you will never forget. Ice Climbing is challenging both mentally and physically, but if you are the type that enjoys adventure, this is the perfect outing for you! Coming up is the Bozeman Ice Festival December 6th-10th. Registration opened on the 1st of October, but there is still plenty of time! Clinics and event registration are available! Our team at Yellowstone Rent a Car can make sure you have the right car to haul gear and get you to where you want to go. There are multiple winter activities you can enjoy while visiting the Big Sky, and I would say this one should be at the top of your list.
