Winter is upon us! One of the top activities to do in Montana is checking out the many ski resorts. For the next few weeks, I will be outlining the ski resorts in the area. The first one I am going to talk about is Bridger Bowl. Just 16 miles north of Bozeman, you can be on the slopes. The rule of thumb for snow lovers to grab their gear and head for the mountains is when the blue light blinks on the top of the Baxter Hotel in downtown Bozeman. At the time, this was the tallest building in Bozeman and since there was no internet, this was the only way for skiers to know that it was time to hit the slopes. The iconic blue light still blinks to alert snow lovers to head to the hills for an amazing day. For the blue light to blink, it has to have snowed 2 inches or more in the past 24 hours. This year, the projected opening day is December 8th. Just watch for the blue light!
Bozeman is an iconic ski town and one that many flock to when looking for a great place to be. In addition to being the home of Montana State, there are many reasons to visit Bozeman. Local shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, and more are available when you decide to come off the slopes. Bridger Bowl is a great reason to plan your trip to Bozeman! While the Bridger Bowl is currently closed, they will be open soon and the blue light on the Baxter Hotel will blink! This would be the perfect opportunity to fly into the Bozeman International Airport and rent a car from Yellowstone Rent a Car!
