Happy Thanksgiving!

The Starting Place of Thanksgiving...

Happy turkey day!  This time of year is marked to reflect what we are thankful for and appreciate all of the blessings we have in our lives.  We all know the history of Thanksgiving and how it started, but I’ll give a quick rundown.  In 1620, the Mayflower sailed over to America to explore the new land.  The Pilgrims came over and built the Village at Plymouth and through all their struggles, became acquainted with the Abenaki Tribe who greeted them in English.  One of the most important Native Americans to this story is Squanto.  He helped the Pilgrims to fight malnutrition, grow corn and other crops, extract sap from trees, catch fish, along with many other survival tools.  This is one of the few harmonious times between the English and Native Americans.  In November 1621, the first Thanksgiving was celebrated.  However, it wasn’t until 1941 when Thanksgiving was set on the fourth Thursday in November by President Roosevelt.  Thanksgiving today is different than it was back then.  It is not so much a religious occasion as it was, but more of a time with family, a good meal, volunteering, parades, and many more activities to show your thanks for all we have in life.  We all have something to be thankful for.

Thanksgiving is one of the best times of year to spend with family and enjoy all that life has given us.  All of us at Yellowstone Rent a Car hope you had a great holiday with plenty of good food to eat!  We hope to be a part of your next adventure.
