Trips that are educational and fun: Museum of the Rockies
Even with the winter weather, there is still plenty to do in Bozeman Montana. While many take to the slopes and go skiing, some want a more relaxed and warm activity to do with the family. I have the solution for you. The Museum of the Rockies is a great place to go and spend time with the family while creating an education experience for all. Also known as MOR, there are many great exhibits to check out as well as the planetarium! There is always a special exhibit that the museum features for a limited amount of time. Right now, it is Apsaalooke Women and Warriors. Through December 31st, you can learn about the Northern Plains tribe and their bravery, horsemanship, ways of life, battle victories, unmatched beadwork, and the tradition of “Counting Coup”. Learning about Native Americans is an important part of our history and sheds light to some of the traditions we know today. MOR is honored to be the only museum outside of the Field Museum in Chicago Illinois to host this exhibit.
Along with five changing exhibits a year, they also have cultural and natural history exhibits, educational programs, planetarium shows, benefit events, children’s discovery center, and more. The museum is open year round except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. The primary exhibits include Landforms and Lifeforms, Dinosaurs under the Big Sky, Welcome to Yellowstone Country, Enduring Peoples, and the Paugh History Hall. Seasonally, they have a living history farm. There is so much to see and learn at the Museum of the Rockies and we think you and your family will love it.
